It was big everywhere else. Waves this day were bigger than usual with winter storm Riley pushing strong swell down our way, but they had a wonky form all day. A few good waves came through though. I went out to film team rider Alex Casal in the morning on his new board. Lots of glare from the sun and super high tide washing in so I decided to go with tripod video first from the beach. But then I decided to change to drone all of a sudden and while I was still setting up Alex caught a really nice stand up barrel right in front of me and I missed it. Fortunately for the video's sake I managed to film "that blond kid" Logan Kamen who came down for the day in a hair dry barrel. The whole time I stood on the beach for over 2 hours and I had forgotten to put on sun block so I got sun burned pretty bad. I looked like a true red neck for the rest of the day. Tried to capture some drone footage in the afternoon of Alex Casal on his also new 6'0" Sizzle Stick Pin-Tail. Jason Mac was out there flying wingman on his drone too. We both had Alex in our sights. But it was taking so long for the sets to roll through. Drone batteries do not last very long. So I cut it short with some jittery filler clips. Still getting used to flying the drone around the beach. It kept cutting out on me mid flight. Had it for only month now. Still learning how to use it. Hope you enjoyed watching this techno thriller surf flic? Till next swell.
